Clearing Up Some Blackjack Myths

Every game, card game or otherwise, will come with its own array of myths. Don't ever be surprised to find a lot of myths that surround your favorite game of blackjack. A lot of misconceptions have crept in as time passed by and we may have to clear some of these myths to give you a good clear picture of blackjack as a game.

You might even be surprised that some of the things you believe about blackjack would be mentioned here.

One common myth is that blackjack card counting is a sure-fire thing to use and make you win all the time. Blackjack card counting is no more than a tool to help players win a game. Tools without the relevant skills of a blackjack player won't take you far enough in a game to ensure your success.

What makes blackjack card counting a real success is if you combine it with at least your basic blackjack strategy. You can be sure that people have more myths about card counting out there.

Another myth out there is that a blackjack player needs to make a 21 or nearest to it to win. That isn't really an accurate statement about the game of blackjack. The real object of the game in blackjack (that is if you have read up on basic strategy and quit believing in myths) is to beat the dealer.

Beating the blackjack dealer doesn't necessarily mean you must be real close to 21 (or exactly 21) all the time to win. All you really have to do is to check out the dealer's hand, make your choice based on what you see. Just beat the blackjack dealer's hand, don't be too cocky and try to score a 21 all the time.

Myth number three is about stupid players. This myth holds that stupid players (even beginners are sometimes tossed into this category) affects the whole backgammon game and usually negatively. Though it is true that beginners who make the wrong plays may effect particular hands, the truth is the outcomes can either be positive or negative.

Some blackjack players even go that far to consider novices as bad luck.

Next is that insurance is a good bet. You can be sure that this is not true. If a player takes insurance and they had a blackjack, they aren't aware of what they're giving up. They're going to be losing 13% of what would've been your profit for the two blackjacks.

Another myth is that if the dealer's show card is a Two, then that favors the dealer. The truth is that there is no mathematical evidence for this blackjack myth.

Here are some of the myths of blackjack. It's just better to just get on with your game and play your strategy and quit believing these myths.
